'Thalapathy' Vijay's fans are gearing up for the release of the actor's Varisu, announced to come out in theatres worldwide for Pongal in January 2023. With huge excitement and expectations surrounding the upcoming family entertainer's release, there has also been tremendous buzz for the superstar's next big film, the tentatively titled Thalapathy 67, which will see him reuniting with blockbuster director Lokesh Kanagaraj once again after the spectacular box office success of their Master in 2021. Reports have been rife stating that a formal pooja for Thalapathy 67 was held at the AVM Studios in Chennai on Monday, December 5, with Lokesh Kanagaraj and several other big Tamil cinema stars also in attendance.
The anticipation for Thalapathy 67 first shot up right after the release of Master after it was revealed that Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj were indeed teaming up once again for a project together. With reports stating that the film's pooja took place over the week, it is also being stated that actress Trisha will be a part of the venture, alongside 'Action King' Arjun, Priya Anand, Mansoor Ali Khan to name a notable few. Furthermore, there is huge speculation that Thalapathy 67 could also be a part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), which was established in Vikram released earlier this year starring 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan, 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, and Suriya. Lokesh Kanagaraj ingeniously connected the plot and the events of the action blockbuster with the Karthi-starrer Kaithi, which came out in 2019, with the film ending on a cliffhanger note hinting at a confrontation between the characters of both films.
With all eyes set on Vijay's Thalapathy 67, actress Priya Anand has now seemingly hinted at the likelihood of the film being tied into the Lokesh Cinematic Universe by liking a tweet on Twitter. This has left fans pondering over the possibilities of the film to indeed be connected to the other films in the LCU, with all sights now set on the official announcement up ahead. As of now, there has been no official word about Thalapathy 67, with Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studios said to be producing the film and Anirudh Ravichander coming on board as the composer. It is also being suggested that a special promo video is planned to be released for the official announcement of the highly-anticipated project as Vijay fans continue to wait with bated breath.
