There's no stopping the box office rampage Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: 2 is on right now after it opened in cinemas in a grand manner last month and has grossed more than 300 crores in worldwide box office collections. The epic historical action-adventure film featuring music composed by Academy Award-winner A. R. Rahman continues to be lauded for its songs and background score, with the lilting melodious 'Aga Naga' number sung by Shakthisree Gopalan to the lyrics penned by Ilango Krishnan turning out to be a chart-topping hit. Picturized on Karthi and Trisha, the much-awaited 'Aga Naga' video song from PS: 2 has now been released officially by audio giant Tips on their YouTube channel, and gives us a glimpse at the romance between the characters portrayed by both the stars.
The 'Aga Naga' song continues to be leading the charts and the official video has now been released while Ponniyin Selvan: 2 is enjoying a strong showing in theatres everywhere, and has come as a big delightful treat for fans, who got to witness Mani Ratnam weave his magic in depicting the romance between Karthi as Vanthiyathevan and Trisha as Kundavai. Fans who have watched the film have been waiting for the song's official video to be released as many had taken an instant liking to the romance between Karthi and Trisha, while praises also pouring in for Mani Ratnam's direction, A. R. Rahman's composition, singer Shaktisree Gopalan's rendition, lyricist Ilango Krishnan's verses, and cinematographer Ravi Varman's work on the camera front.
Although the 'Aga Naga' was not featured in the Ponniyin Selvan: 1 album or the film, the song was teased during a sequence where Karthi's Vanthiyathevan and Trisha's Kundavai meet for the first time, thus becoming a love anthem among fans. Released in its entirety in Ponniyin Selvan: 2, the song has since become a massive success and continues to be widely performed by young budding artistes on social media.
