S. S. Rajamouli's magnum opus RRR starring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR in the lead has been the most talked about Indian film all over the world. The film has achieved international status for itself and has been making headlines ever since it was released on 24 March 2022.
The film is circulating and trending yet again but it is not for any reason that you may expect. Oscar and BAFTA award-winning sound mixer and designer Resul Pookutty called the blockbuster a 'gay love story' publicly on Twitter after writer-director Munish Bhardwaj called he 'saw 30 minutes of garbage called RRR last night'. This comment of Resul's instigated netizens on the platform to open fire on him resulting in immense backlash.
Baahubali producer Shobu Yarlagadda was one of the many angry people who did not take this very well. Reacting to Resul’s comments, Shobu shared this thought on the sound designer. Replying to Resul's comment, he said, "I don't think @RRRMovie is a gay love story as you say but even if it was, is "gay love story" a bad thing? How can you justify using this ? This has sparked a major controversy as netizens are flocking to Twitter to speak their mind on the matter and to follow the gossip. Fans of the movie did not take Pookutty's comments very well and reacted angrily for pretty obvious reasons.
After its release, RRR went on to earn more than Rs. 1000 crore globally. It became S.S. Rajamouli’s second consecutive movie to achieve this feat. And it also garnered rave reviews from critics and the audience alike.
The film broke multiple box office records and cemented Indian films as a part of world cinema. The film has won the hearts of movie lovers and a number of celebrities from the Indian film industry as well as from Hollywood have already showered praises on this film.
RRR chronicles a pre-Independence fictional story woven around two real Indian revolutionaries in the 1920s -- Alluri Sitarama Raju, played by Ram Charan, and Komaram Bheem, essayed by Jr. NTR. Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn also appear in the film in special cameo roles.
