A film that set the entire nation talking in 2016, Article 15, starring Ayushmann Khurrana turned out to be a phenomenal critical and commercial success, with a Tamil remake also announced last year. The upcoming Article 15 Tamil remake being produced by Raahul for Romeo Pictures had kicked off production earlier this year, with Udhayanidhi Stalin cast in the role of a police officer originally portrayed by Ayushmann Khurrana in the Hindi film and is being directed by Kanaa fame Arunraja Kamaraj. With a major chunk of shooting already wrapped up on the Tamil version, the makers on Saturday revealed that the film has been titled as Nenjuku Needhi.
Blockbuster producer Boney Kapoor is presenting Nenjuku Needhi under his Bayview Projects LLP banner in association with Zee Studios, with the team announcing the film's powerful title by releasing an intense and intriguing motion poster. The Nenjuku Needhi motion poster shows several important moments and sequences in the film before revealing Udhayanidhi Stalin in his cop avatar. Karuppan actress Tanya Ravichandran is playing the female lead in Nenjuku Needhi as Udhayanidhi's wife, with Bigg Boss Tamil season 4 stars Suresh Chakravarthy and Aari, followed by Shivani Rajashekar, Yamini Chander, Ilavarasan, Mayilsamy, Abdool lee and Ratsasan Saravanan cast in major supporting roles.
Article 15 went on to garner acclaim for its story, which dealt with several social issues. including caste atrocities and politics, sexual assault, flogging incidents and director Arunraja Kamaraj and Udhayanidhi Stalin are expected to do justice for their Tamil remake. Dhibu Ninan Thomas, who delivered hit songs in Kanaa, is collaborating with Arunraja Kamaraj once again for Nenjuku Needhi, with Dinesh Krishnan. B for cinematography and Ruben for editing. The film's technical crew also features Vinoth Rajkumar and Lalgudi N Ilayaraja as the art directors, Stunner Sam for the action choreography, Tamizharasan Pachamuthu writing the dialogues and Yugabharathi and Arunraja Kamaraj penning the lyrics.
