Leading Tamil director Nelson Dilipkumar is a happy man these days after the sensational opening to his latest film, the 'Superstar' Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer. Produced under the prestigious Sun Pictures banner and featuring chartbuster music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, the film has been receiving stellar feedback from fans as cinemas are running to packed houses everywhere. With Jailer now out in theatres and witnessing housefull shows, filmmaker Nelson sat down with Galatta for an exclusive interview to talk about the film, while also opening up on 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's speech at the audio launch event held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai last month.
Among the many big highlights of Rajinikanth's speech at the Jailer audio launch was the narration of his meeting with Nelson at his residence for the film's story narration. During his speech, the actor mentioned how the hit director had reached late and asked for a cup of coffee before proceeding to narrate the film's story. Rajinikanth's speech at the Jailer audio launch evoked a huge response, with the audience in the arena bursting out in laughter and thunderous claps. Speaking about the incident, Nelson said, "I usually am not awake during the whole night or in the morning. Anirudh works only at night. The others work in the morning. When I leave his place, he'll ask me why am I taking off so early. And, this is at 4 a.m. in the morning. By the time I had matched the timing of the meeting, it got a little late. This has been going on as a routine for five years now." Upon being queried about asking for a cup of coffee at Rajinikanth's house before the Jailer story narration, Nelson said, "I didn't ask him that. He asked me if I would like to anything to eat and I said I'll have some coffee. I'm not a coffee addict, but I felt it'd be nice to have something before the story narration."
