Blockbuster Tamil film producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu's Naane Varuvean starring Dhanush directed by ace filmmaker Selvaraghavan and featuring music by chart-buster composer Yuvan Shankar Raja took a sensational opening after releasing in theatres worldwide last week. With the horror thriller venture released a day before Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: 1, both films have been performing strongly at the box office, despite a reduction in the number of screens for the former. Addressing the issue, producer V Creations’ Kalaipuli S. Thanu opened up in an exclusive interview with Galatta stating that he sent a personal text message to the people at the top at PVR Group and requested them to once again increase the number of screens for Naane Varuvean.
Kalaipuli S. Thanu said, "The number of screens for our film has reduced. During the time of release, I told them to give the other film (Ponniyin Selvan) 60% screen count and 40% for my film. But, after the number of screens was reduced for my film, it left me feeling a lot and I sent a message to the top brass of PVR. I'll read out the message to you now." Thanu recited the text message saying, "Dear sir, we thank you for your support in releasing the movie 'Naane Varuvean' on September 29, 2022. After the release of the movie on the first day, the number of screens on which it was made available, in spite of demand, was reduced and affected the collections. We request you to make the availability of more screens for the movie considering the long festival holiday. Looking forward to your support and cooperation."
