Son of Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja, composer-singer Yuvan Shankar Raja has successfully completed a whopping 25 years into his music career in the film industry. Within a span of 25 years, the Little Maestro has worked on at least 164 films to date and has worked with several leading actors and actresses in the Tamil film industry. He began his musical career in 1995, at the age of 16, when he composed the film score for Aravindhan starring Sarathkumar and Parthiban in lead roles.
He made his breakthrough in 2001 with the soundtrack for Thulluvadho Ilamai and established himself as one of Tamil cinema's most sought-after composers by the mid-2000s. In 2015, Yuvan created his own music label, U1 Records and started his own film production studio, YSR Films, in 2017.
At an event organized to mark this milestone in the film industry, the composer addressed the media to thank everyone for their support over these 25 years. During the meeting, Yuvan Shankar Raja also revealed his plan of directing a film. While replying to a question asked by a media person during an interaction, he said, "The script for my film is ready. I will be directing it either this year or next year." He also added that his directorial film will be a female-centric one. The King of BGM has also shared a press note on to his official Twitter handle thanking fans, well-wishers, family members, and film fraternities for helping him have a memorable 25 years in the industry.

Besides Tamil films, he has also scored music for films in other South Indian languages. Around 35 Tamil films for which he had composed music were later dubbed into Telugu, Kannada or Malayalam languages. Apart from these ones, he also worked on Telugu projects such as Seshu, Malli Malli Chudali, Happy, Raam and Raju Bhai making him a well-known music composer in Andhra Pradesh too.
His Telugu album Oy! had become a grand success as it topped the charts and held its spot for several weeks. Yuvan's Panjaa, which released in 2011, created all-time records, creating new trends as a rock album in Andhra Pradesh.
