The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) on Friday, September 2, announced that cinemas across India will carry an admission fee of Rs. 75/- for moviegoers to celebrate National Cinema Day on September 16. The one-day discount plan will be in effect on September 16 in participating screens of PVR, INOX, Cinepolis, Carnival, Miraj, Citypride, Asian, Mukta A2, Movietime, Wave, M2K, Delite, and several others. Although online third-party apps or websites will levy additional taxes, film lovers can watch movies at a flat amount of Rs. 75 by waiting in queues like in the old days.

This will come as joyous news for film lovers, who usually have to spend more than Rs. 200 for a single ticket, and has been announced after theatres in the U. S. recently notified that they would celebrate their National Cinema Day on September 3 by offering tickets for only $3. National Cinema Day, which is an initiative by theatre owners as a "thank you" to moviegoers to mark the successful reopening of cinemas after COVID-19, will be celebrated in more than 4,000 cinemas across India.

This latest announcement from the Multiplex Association of India under the aegis of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) will now allow Tamil cinema lovers to catch up on the films that are currently running like 'Chiyaan' Vikram's Cobra, Karthi's Viruman, Dhanush's Thiruchitrambalam, Arulnithi's Diary, Dulquer's Sita Ramam, Pa. Ranjith's Natchathiram Nagargiradhu, including many others. Furthermore, the next two weeks will also see new Tamil films releasing such as Arya's Captain (September 8) and Sharwanand's Kanam (September 9), including Silambarasan TR's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu coming out in cinemas on September 15.
