The entire world has been pushed back to come to a standstill owing to the coronavirus, which has affected more than 2 million people while leaving over 10,000 dead to date. As a cure for the COVID-19 virus is yet to be found, the disease declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a pandemic has caused major ripples in the economies of nations across the globe with India too bearing the brunt for sometime with Prime Minister Narendra Modi since announcing a lockdown for 21 days.
With India too hit severely by the coronavirus crisis, PM Modi had announced the PM Cares initiative to revive the Indian economy a few days back, which has now come under heavy criticism from popular Tamil film director, Nelson Venkatesan. Known for his films, Oru Naal Koothu starring 'Attakathi' Dinesh and Nivetha Pethuraj and the SJ Suryah and Priya Bhavani Shankar rom com entertainer, Monster, released last year, Nelson Venkatesan took to his Twitter page to lash out at PM Modi's PM Cares initiative questioning as to why it has be marketed as such. Referring the Yes Bank crisis in India a while back before COVID-19 virus shook the world, Nelson added saying how can a citizen's contribution become PM Cares and as to where the 'care' is in the midst of all this.
Monster director Nelson Venkatesan's tweet read as follows: #PrimeMinisterReliefFund why it has to be marketed as #PMCARES ? Isn't he asking his citizens to bear the burden and let people like #yesbank slip away easily ?Where is the ' care ' here ? How can a citizen's contribution becomes #pmcares'. wat kind of care s this ? Shameless !". Check out Nelson Venkatesan's tweet below:
