Modern Love Chennai is a recently released anthology web series that was released on the OTT streaming platform Prime Video recently. The six-episode series had different directors for each episode. Veteran director Bharathiraja with directors Balaji Shakthivel, Thiagarajan Kumaraja and Akshay Sundher gave an exciting interview to Galatta Media with versatile actress Suhasini Maniratnam for a special show titled Games Changers. During the interview, the director shared exciting details about love, their personal experience and the film.
As the host Suhasini Maniratnam asked the director how and why the directors chose those title for their episodes in the series Modern Love Chennai. Veteran director Bharathiraja began by stating why he chose the title Paravai Kootil Vazhum Maangal. The director said “Will a deer live in a bird’s nest? It wouldn't be able to. Like that, they couldn’t stay in that love, so they get separated". Then Balaji Shakthivel revealed why he named his part as Imaigal, he said “It’s related to the eye of the woman who is a character in the film. The eye symbolises Love, right?" As the the anchor then said only if you open your eyes it's love right? The director said "here even if the person closes her eyes its love”
When asked about Thiagarajan Kumaraja’s title Ninaivo Oru Paravi. He said, “The structure determined the title of the film. I thought this title will be a part of the structure so, we went with this title and I kept it”. Then Suhasini Maniratnam commented if it's like going back and forth with memories. When the anchor then asked about the title Margazhi to Akshay Sundher, the young director said “It was a decision from the writer and Thiagarajan Kumaraja sir, but it was also apt for the story. Because the film takes place around Christmas time near St Thomas Mount. And the stories happens in a Christian space." Here's the full interview:
