As the world continues to grapple with the coronavirus pandemic, the Indian government is implementing all necessary measures for the safety of its citizens. With the government and health officials instructing the people to adopt social distancing and self-isolation, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had on Friday said that the total number of COVID-19 virus positive cases in India has gone up to 7447 with 6565 active cases followed by 643 cured or discharged or migrated and 239 deaths.
The Health Ministry in their press briefing on Saturday has said that the Ministry of Home Affairs had in a letter today reiterated their request for the governments of state and union territories to provide police security to the doctors and other medical staff in hospitals and the quarantine centres and outposts. Likewise, the Health Ministry added that the nation would have witnessed over 8.2 lakh positive cases by April 15 without the lockdown and containment measures. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare further added saying a proactive and graded approach by the Government of India has been carried out in the battle against the COVID-19 outbreak as 586 coronavirus dedicated hospitals and more than 1 lakh isolation beds are functioning at present.
