Kovai Guna passed away on 21st March due to ill health. It is said that she was admitted in a hospital in Coimbatore and has been getting treatment for about a year. The comedian was a mimicry artist who acclaimed fame after participating as contestant in the television reality show Kalakka Povathu Yaaru which was telecasted in Star Vijay. Kovai Guna is famous for his imitation of stars like Goundamani, Radharavi, last actors Shivaji and MR Radha. He was well-known for mimicking the voice of well-known comedy actor Janagaraj to the tee. He was the first title winner of the show Kalakka Povathu Yaaru. The popular mimicry artist appeared on stage alongside Madurai Muthu, Robo Shankar and Vadivel Balaji. It is reported that he has also acted in a supporting role in the film Chennai Kadhal starring Bharath in the lead role. As this comes a month after the death of well-known comedian Mayilsamy fans and movie buffs are shocked by the news and have expressed their condolences and paid tributes to the comedian and mimicry artist.
Madurai Muthu, who is famous and has been appearing in many TV reality shows, has paid tribute to the late artist and has shared his condolences with a special post on Instagram. He stated “In 20 years, I have seen many artists but you were always Number 1. Even if there were many mimicry artists no one can replace Kovai Guna. though we were both winners of Kalakka Povathu Yaaru season 1, you always kept encouraging other artists. You had great love towards me. No one can take your place may your soul rest in peace", said Madurai Muthu. Many fans and other artists have also expressed their condolences to late Kovai Guna.
