Earlier this morning (October 17), the news was out that popular Tamil serial actress Uma Maheswari passed away and her demise has taken everyone by deep shock. She was just 40 years old when she breathed her last. Her mortal remains was brought to her apartment in Chennai, this morning for the friends and family to pay their final respects. Several notable personalities from the television industry reached Uma's house to pay their homage. Raj Kamal, Latha Rao, Gayathri, Vanaja were some of the actors who were present at the funeral event of Uma Maheswari. The visuals of these actors emotionally breaking down have made the fans emotional.
Talking about Uma Maheswari at the funeral event, Raj Kamal said, "Metti Oli is like the mother to all serials and it owns a cult status. Uma played the lovable character of Viji in that serial and she was unanimously loved by one and all. The serial is being aired for the second time on Sun TV now and my daughter is a big fan of her. I haven't acted with her, but my wife (Latha Rao) has shared screen space with her. I have always known Uma to be a cute, fun-loving and a positive person. We just saw her mortal remains and it doesn't look like Uma at all. She looks like a skeleton.
When we first heard the news, we thought it would be fake news as she was too young. We do not know how to react to this situation. Apparently, she suffered from jaundice recently. So, I'd like to ask everyone to take good care of their health, especially during these Covid times. There is no age barrier for any disease or infection and it is important to take care of ourselves". Uma Maheswari will be best known and remembered for playing the role of Viji in Sun TV's mega-hit serial, Metti Oli. Uma Maheswari essayed the character of Vijayalakshmi / Viji - one of the five daughters of Chidambaram (played by Delhi Kumar).
Uma's character was also the wife of Thirumurugan (Gopi) in the serial and her performance received a positive response from the audience. Find below the emotionally moving videos from the funeral event of actress Uma Maheswari:
