It is that time of the day when the official number of the COVID-19 cases are released and May 4th has surpassed yesterday to now become the single day with the highest number of newly tested COVID-19 Corona Virus Positive cases in Tamil Nadu, so far. Today has followed in the trend of the last couple of days and had a shockingly almost double than yesterday's number of cases, especially in Chennai. The official numbers of #COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus cases in Tamil Nadu are out and we have it for you. The numbers just seem to be having spike after spike with each passing day and in the last 24 hours, Tamil Nadu has had 527 new cases of COVID positive being reported. Of this, 266 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 1,724, with Cuddalore also registering over 100 cases, at 122!
There has been 1 new COVID related death in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 31. As of now, Chennai is the biggest hotspot in the state and has 1,724 cases registered, of which 1,438 are active. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 2,107, thus taking the number of active cases to be higher than the number of cases recovered! The number of recoveries has been very low with just 30 new recoveries and discharges and the total number of recovered people is now at 1,409. However, one positive note is that Tamil Nadu is conducting the maximum number of tests compared to all other states in India. There have been a massive 12,863 samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 162,970! The Koyambedu Market seems to be the biggest culprit by becoming the largest cluster responsible for the huge spike in the number of COVID cases today!
