Actor R Madhavan is all set and ready for the release of his ambitious directorial debut, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. The actor has not only directed the biographical drama but has also acted, written, and produced the film as well. Based on former ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) scientist and aerospace engineer Nambi Narayanan who was falsely accused of espionage, the film will release is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 1 July 2022 in six different languages including Tamil, Hindi, English, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
In a recent interview, the actor-turned-director hinted that this could potentially be his last directorial venture. During a recent interview with the media, the Alaipayuthey actor stated, "I don’t think I have it in me to direct again. It’s an exhausting process and I have no immediate plans as such to direct. Even with Rocketry, since the original director attached to the film had to exit the project due to his prior commitments, I took up the mantle as I didn’t have time to approach anyone else. Mr. Nambi believed in me and he pushed me to take up the job and I thought it was my duty to do it". "My wife wants me to focus on acting for now. I’m no Mani Ratnam to confidently make films in different genres. I don’t think I can do it. If I have to direct again, then a story should really move me", he added.
The Nambi Effect boasts a stellar star-studded cast that includes actors like Phyllis Logan, Vincent Riotta, and Ron Donachie. Cinema icons Suriya and Shah Rukh Khan will also be seen playing special cameos roles in the Tamil and Hindi versions of the film respectively. The two actors did not charge a fee for their involvement in the film and solely did it from the kindness of their hearts to help a fellow friend.
