The upcoming Tamil film, Maanaadu, was initially announced last year with Simbu in the lead role and Venkat Prabhu coming on board as the director under producer Suresh Kamatchi’s V House Creations banner. With Yuvan Shankar Raja revealed to be scoring music and Kalyani Priyadarshan playing the female lead, the project had created tremendous excitement right from the moment of its announcement. That said, the film has since then remained in a state of limbo with no further development after which Suresh Kamatchi had revealed a while back that he would be making the project with another actor instead. Soon after, Simbu’s father, T. Rajendar, had revealed that his son would be making a film titled, Maghaa Maanaadu, at a budget of 125 crores, which would be coming out in 5 languages. However, in a sudden turn of events, STR had last week kicked off his spiritual journey to Sabarimalai, in the presence of Suresh Kamatchi, with the producer then going on to announce that Maanaadu was back on track with the flamboyant star in the lead role. Now, Suresh Kamatchi, in an exclusive interview to Galatta, has shared details on the current status of the production on Maanaadu.
Speaking about the revival of Maanaadu with STR, Suresh Kamatchi said, “I have been a person who has been attempting to make Maanaadu a reality. Whether it goes on to be made or not is in his hands. Ever since I attended the Sabaramalai send-off ceremony, I haven’t been able to contact him. I am not one who will want to hide the facts and talk. The truth is that there has not been any communication since that day. What I want to remind is that I am interested in making Maanaadu and I am very clear about it. On that day, I didn’t go to see him as a producer. Instead, I went because he had invited me for the ceremony. I was happy when he told me he’s going to Sabaramalai after which I met him and came back. Now, photos of our meeting went viral and I still don’t understand why they were debated so much. I too saw memes created and many comments also came my way that said, ‘I have gotten myself trapped,’. To all those who were sympathizing for me, I want to say that I haven’t gotten myself trapped in anything and nobody can put me in such a position. Coming to the shoot correctly on time is now up to Simbu. Rather than asking me questions about Maanaadu, I feel Simbu will give better answers with proper clarity,”.
