Hit Tamil cinema director Mari Selvaraj expressed his excitement on Wednesday, August 2, after the stunning reception for his latest film, Maamannan, on Netflix. The acclaimed filmmaker took to social media and revealed that the political thriller film starring Udhayanidhi Stalin, Vadivelu, Fahadh Faasil, and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles is currently in the top 10 non-English films across the world on the leading streaming platform and is also in number one in two other countries, while also adding that it features in the top 10 list in six countries. Sharing infographics of Maamannan scaling new heights on X, Mari Selvaraj also went on to reveal that so far 1.2 million people around the world have watched the film on Netflix. He wrote, "Not just India. #Maamannan is under the top 10 films that has been watched globally on Netflix. No.1 in 2 other countries and among the top 10 in 6 Countries!! Also 1.2M people have watched the film World Wide! Cheers to breaking those boundaries! (sic)".
Maamannan premiered on Netflix on July 27 and Mari Selvaraj's latest statement about the response to his latest directorial is testimony of the huge positive feedback after the stunning results at the box office. Still running in theatres, the film is also now Udhayanidhi Stalin's highest-grossing film after the actor-politician revealed the news during the success meet last month.
