A show that continues to be revered by '90s kids is Lollu Sabha, which aired on Vijay TV from August 2004 to August 2007, and enjoyed phenomenal ratings back in the day. The comedy show created by Ram Bhala is now back and this time with a bang as Netflix India has announced the team of Lollu Sabha is returning for a spoof on the hit American crime drama television series, Breaking Bad. Titled Joking Bad, a teaser has now been released showing the core cast of Lollu Sabha coming back, with the segment announced to arrive on Netflix India's YouTube channel on January 20 at 6 p.m.
Joking Bad on Netflix India will see Lollu Sabha regulars like Manohar, Swaminathan, Jeeva, Seshu, among others doing a spoof of Breaking Bad, which starred Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, Aaron Paul, Dean Norris, Betsy Brandt, RJ Mitte, Giancarlo Esposito, Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, among others, and was created by Vince Gilligan. Currently streaming on Netflix, the series ran for five seasons on AMC winning several big accolades, and has since garnered a huge fan following worldwide. Netflix India's Joking Bad will be an interesting take on Breaking Bad with the cast of Lollu Sabha and it remains to be seen how the team is going to spoof one of the most revered television series of all time.
Lollu Sabha aired 150 episodes on Vijay TV and was re-telecast during the nationwide lockdown in 2020, with the response once again being positive. The show introduced many talents, who later became household names across Tamil Nadu, while also launching actor Santhanam into films as a full-time comedian before venturing into lead roles. It is to be noted that comedy actor Yogi Babu, who is currently one of the most popular names in Tamil cinema, too had a stint in Lollu Sabha in the early stages of his career.
