'Thalapathy' Vijay' Leo has been released in theatres worldwide taking a spectacular start at the worldwide box office grossing 148.5+ crores on day one. Produced by Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studio banner, the mass action drama released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi languages has been directed by blockbuster Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj and features music composed by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander. With Leo's performance at the box office leaving everyone stunned, producer Lalit Kumar sat down for an exclusive interview with Galatta to talk about the making of the film, while also opening up on a special request from Lokesh Kanagaraj after the strong start in cinemas.

Lalit, who explains the various aspects behind the making of Leo, including the planning and the efforts involved in the production, revealed that director Lokesh Kanagaraj requested a gift since the film has turned out to be a monumental triumph at the box office. "He's asked me for a gift. I queried him back on what he would like to have and he said that he wanted a helicopter, and I agreed," the hit film producer-distributor said in his response to an edited photo that has gone viral on social media in which he and the filmmaker are seen standing in front of a rotorcraft.

The talk about gifting Lokesh Kanagaraj with a helicopter first started when the filmmaker jokingly said during the Leo promotions that he had requested producer Lalit Kumar for one considering Kamal Haasan had earlier presented him with a brand-new Lexus ES 300h luxury sedan after the success of Vikram (2022). Leo is the second film for Lalit Kumar with the 'Thalapathy' Vijay, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Anirudh Ravichander trio after Master (2021), with several other key notable technical crew members retained from their previous blockbuster.
