One film that fans were eagerly looking forward to watching in theatres in 2020 was the Karthi starrer Sulthan, which was pushed to this year due to the pandemic after a delay in the production getting completed owing to the nationwide lockdown. After the lockdown came to a close, Sulthan's shoot was wrapped in quick time, with post-production works currently being carried out in an active manner in light of the film announced to hit theatres worldwide on April 2. Directed by Remo fame Bakkiyaraj Kannan, SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu's Dream Warrior Pictures banner has now announced that Sulthan's overseas distribution rights have been acquired by AP International, while Warangal Srinu has bagged the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana rights.

Promotions on Sulthan have kicked off in grand data-style as the film's action-packed and colorful teaser released sometime back to a rousing response from fans. Likewise, the feedback for the first single in the film titled ‘Jai Sulthan’ sung by Anirudh Ravichander has turned out to be a chart-buster, with all sights currently set on the rest of the album, including the trailer, which is expected to drop as we near the theatrical release. Fans are looking forward to Sulthan with huge expectations as they had last witnessed Karthi in Thambi in late 2019. The hype surrounding Sulthan has been huge, with fans expecting the film to top the success of Karthi's Kaithi directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, which turned out to be a raging blockbuster when it came out in theatres for Diwali in 2019.
Among the major highlights in Sulthan is also South Indian sensation Rashmika Mandanna for whom the upcoming film is her Tamil cinema debut. Rashmika, who has garnered a huge fan following across the state even before she has been seen in a Tamil film, has increased the hype for Sulthan, which also includes veteran actor Napoleon playing the role of Karthi's father. Billed to be one of the biggest ventures to have been made by Dream Warrior Pictures, Sulthan includes a strong technical team featuring names like the Vivek-Mervin duo for the music, followed by cinematography by Kaithi and Master fame Sathyan Sooryan, while Ruben is the editor.
