There are no boundaries to imagination and that has been exhibited to the fullest extent now with the 'Kannamma walking' memes, which have gone viral on social media. The character of Kannamma played by Roshini Haripriyan on the popular Vijay TV serial, Bharathi Kannamma, recently showed her walking on the road for almost the whole of last week, giving birth to a hilarious meme idea, which fans seemed to have lapped up, with many taking to their social media pages and profiles to give it their own spin.

Kannamma memes have gone viral, especially on Tamil social media, with fans exploiting the narrative of the character, who is also pregnant, shown walking in the last five episodes. More than 300 Bharathi Kannamma episodes have been telecast, with the show taking a short break during the COVID-19 pandemic in March earlier this year, before production once again resumed towards the end of July. The show, which enjoys a massive fan following among the youth, aired its first episode on Vijay TV on February 25, 2019 and is currently one of the most-watched Tamil TV shows.

Bharathi Kannamma is also a remake of the hit Malayalam television series, Karuthamuthu, which was aired on Asianet. It went on to become the second-longest running television soap opera in Malayalam television and completed four seasons, which included 1,450 episodes, over a period of five years. The Tamil version of the show isn't the only remake as it has been remade in Telugu under the Karthika Deepam, Muddulakshmi in Kannada, Rang Mazha Vegla in Marathi, including the Hindi edition titled as Karthik Purnima, which was taken off the air abruptly due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in March 2020.

Apart from Roshini Haripriyan, Bharathi Kannamma also stars Arun Prasad, Sweety, Akilan, Farina Azad and Roopa Sree in the lead roles and is being produced under the Global Villagers production banner.
