Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and his close aides' names were misused along with their documents being forged by a woman and two men. The trio, Aruna Kumari, Madhukeshava and Nandisha, have been booked by the police for allegedly forging documents and misusing the actor's name to try and extort money from his close aide. Darshan later held a press meet with businessman Harsha Melanta, who filed the complaint, and a few of his friends.
Without taking the names of those accused in the case, Darshan released an audio clip of the woman accused in which he is heard conversing with her, including a WhatsApp chat between her and producer Umapathy Srinivas. Addressing media persons, he informed that a police investigation into the matter is currently underway. He added that he did an inquiry of his own and had gathered plenty of information. In his statement, he did not level any accusations against Umapathy, while adding that the police investigation will provide answers. He said that Umapathy will need to clarify on the issue.
Accompanying Darshan on Sunday to the ACP's office to file a complaint, Umapathy, however, did not show up at the press conference on Monday, with some speculating that not all was well between them. Reports state the woman accused in the case is the ex-wife of one Kumar, who is an employee working in a hotel being run by the complainant Harsha at Hebbal in Mysore. Kumar, who attended the press meet, stated that he has been separated from his wife for nearly eight years and was not aware of her involvement in this latest issue.
