'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan's Vikram will be screened at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) after its astounding box office success. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander, the action thriller also starring 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist and Fahadh Faasil as the commander of the black-ops squad, including Suriya making a power-packed cameo appearance, will be screened under the Open Cinema category at BIFF 2022, which is slated to take place from October 5-14. Vikram, produced by Kamal Haasan and R. Mahendran, was released on June 3 earlier this year and went on to become a box office phenomenon across the world and also the highest-grossing Tamil film in the UK.
In an official statement, V. Narayanan, the CEO of RKFI, said, "The response to Vikram all over the world has been extremely overwhelming. The Busan International Film Festival is another feather in the film's cap and its selection is a win for the entire team. We are proud to have our film being screened along with some of the finest films across the globe and are grateful for all the love and adulation from the audiences." Kamal Haasan's Vikram is currently the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time and also went on to register the highest-ever opening weekend viewership, subscription, and watch time on Disney+ Hotstar. The film ended on a cliffhanger teasing a confrontation next between Kamal Haasan's Vikram and Suriya's Rolex, with Karthi as Dilli from Kaithi also set to be introduced soon into the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). Vikram also holds the distinction of being one of the few Tamil films to enjoy a 100-day theatrical run in several theatres even after it was released on streaming and is undoubtedly a prestigious moment in the history of Tamil cinema.
