One film that has suffered numerous delays is 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 announced by Lyca Productions under Shankar's direction. The upcoming film is a sequel to the 1996 blockbuster, Indian, and has undergone a few big delays during production such as getting permission for the shooting, budget issues, Kamal Haasan's makeup problems, and the tragic crane accident, the coronavirus pandemic, and the subsequent lockdowns. With filming put on hold for more than a year now, Kamal Haasan during the promotions of his latest film, Vikram, in an interview with a Malayasian media house, shared an update about the status of Indian 2 informing where he and Shankar are at now.
Kamal Haasan said, "As far as Indian 2 is concerned, the film has faced a host of issues like COVID-19 and the accident. It can be said easily that I and director Shankar can start shooting immediately. He's running a company and I too have a white elephant that needs to be fed, while we also have to eat. Without completing Vikram, how will the company function? So, after I complete Vikram, he too needs to finish his ongoing commitments for us to start working. We are going to do Indian 2 as we both are eagerly waiting to begin work; in fact more hopeful than the fans." Check out Kamal Haasan talk about Indian 2 in the video below:
#Indian2 will be resumed for sure! - says @ikamalhaasan
Director @shankarshanmugh and myself are more excited about the movie than even the fans. It has come out so well and we will resume it once #shankarshanmugham is done with #RC15
