Tamil filmmaker Deeraj Vaidy of Jil Jung Juk fame issued a clarification on Thursday, August 18, after a statement he made earlier this week on social media set the rumor mill into overdrive leading many fans to assume that he was talking about 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Leo in which he's writing the dialogues along with the film's director Lokesh Kanagaraj and filmmaker Rathna Kumar. On Wednesday, he posted on X about the need to do something to be proud of while adding that "the Universe will take care of the rest. (sic)" The inclusion of the term 'Universe' instantly set fans talking about whether Deeraj was referring to the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) and if the events in the upcoming Leo too would be set in the same universe.
With his post gaining steam, Deeraj has now given an explanation about how Leo has helped him connect with more people in the film industry while adding that his statement was not in reference to the Vijay-starrer directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. He wrote, "Leo has been a lifeboat for me that connected me to more ppl and I am equally(or even more) excited for it like y'all nd there's no denying that. But not err'thing that I post is bout Leo.I have some exciting things 2 share with u in d coming weeks nd I hope u'll support that too (sic)". The Jil Jung Juk director added, "A creators journey extends beyond the shores as well. நனà¯à®±à®¿ ð (sic)". Sharing a screenshot of a scene featuring Jiiva and Santhanam from Siva Manasula Sakthi (2009), Deeraj further wrote, "The only things that's keeping me away from becoming a full blown nihilist is my belief in humanity and the universe. That was what I meant in my previous tweet and this is to avoid misconceptions. (sic)"
Deeraj Vaidy's inclusion in Vijay's Leo as a dialogue writer was first hinted at last December and he was later confirmed to be a part of the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial back in February this year when the film's title announcement promo was released. Although this latest statement from the Jil Jung Juk director has come as a clarification, there are still many fans who are looking forward to the Vijay-starrer being set in the LCU, which includes films like Karthi's Kaithi (2019) and Kamal Haasan's Vikram (2022). As of now, it is a waiting game for many fans and whether Vijay's Leo will also be set in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, with the answer expected to be revealed when the film releases worldwide on October 19.
