A landmark venture for Jayam Ravi, Bhoomi, has been carrying huge expectations right from its announcement considering its the actor's 25th film in his largely successful career. Produced by Sujatha Vijaykumar under her Home Movie Makers banner, the film marks the third-time reunion of Jayam Ravi with director Lakshman, with whom he previously had collaborated on Romeo Juliet and Bogan. The upcoming film is a social political drama and had an exciting teaser released in March, with initial plans to get it out in theatres on May 1 on the occasion of International Labor Day celebrations. However, those plans came to an indefinite halt after the nationwide lockdown was imposed, with talks since then going on regarding the film's release plans.
In that light, rumors popped up on social media stating Bhoomi is set to become the first Tamil direct OTT release on Disney+ Hotstar for which the makers have now issued an official clarification. Stating that the release plans will be officially declared by Home Movie Makers, Jayam Ravi's manager had taken to Twitter to convey that somebody ought to notify the producer first since nobody has informed them. The tweet has since then subsequently been retweeted by Home Movie Makers and it now remains to be seen the final release plans for the film.
Bhoomi has plenty of hype surrounding it, especially after the stellar response to the 'Thamizhan Endru Sollada' song, which was released on Jayam Ravi's birthday on September 10. D. Imman, who has composed the songs and score for the film, had roped in 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander to lend his voice to the track. The film also features Nidhhi Agerwal playing the female lead, with Sathish among others in major supporting roles.
The Bhoomi teaser, which included plenty of action, was released in March and showed Jayam Ravi flexing his muscles, with the story of the film set to be a social-political drama. Based on the visuals in the teaser, it is clear the film will deal with a host of issues hindering the progress of the society, while also delving on the tribulations being faced by farmers across the country.
