The upcoming adult horror comedy entertainer Irandam Kuththu hitting screens this Diwali is set to be the first new Tamil film to be getting a theatrical release after the nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic brought an indefinite halt to such proceedings for a majority of the year. Directed by Santhosh P. Jayakumar, Irandam Kuththu or IAMK 2 had a raunchy teaser released sometime back, drawing a huge response from cinema lovers, including a strong opposition from many in the film fraternity. The sequel to the 2018 Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu, the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on Wednesday issued immediate orders for the film's teaser to be removed from all social media platforms as it includes "double meaning and indecent visuals".

This latest breaking judgment from the High Court could come as a setback for the Irandam Kuththu team, who have been promoting the film aggressively over the past few days by releasing single tracks from the film. Whether the High Court's latest order will lead to a big change in effect in the film's promotions ahead of Diwali, remains to be seen as it hits theatres on November 14. It is to be noted that the film's posters and other promotional material had evoked a strong negative response from many, including legendary six-time National Award-winning director Bharathiraja, who requested the state government and the censor board to take a stern decision on its content and release. Likewise, a police complaint was filed by the Panangattu Padai party a while back in which they referred to the guidelines of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on how a film must be made and cited that Irandam Kuththu had crossed those barriers.

Produced by Hari Bhaskaran's Flying Horse Pictures, it now remains to be seen whether the makers or director Santhosh P. Jayakumar will issue a comment on the High Court's latest order. Apart from directing the film, Santhosh P. Jayakumar is making his acting debut, with Irandam Kuththu's cast also featuring Karishma Kaul, Akrithi Singh, Meenal Sahu playing the female leads, followed by Daniel Annie Pope, Rajendiran, Ravi Maria, Chaams, TSK, Singam Puli, Swaminathan, Shalu Shamu among others in pivotal roles. The film, which had been given a clean 'A' certificate by the CBFC, also includes music by S. N. Prasad, with Dharan Kumar roped for the background score and Rockfort Entertainment acquiring the theatrical distribution rights.
