Gautham Vasudev Menon is one of the leading directors of the Tamil film industry who recently made the film Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu starring Silambarasan TR in the lead role. The director-turned-actor recently gave an exclusive interview to Galatta Media and shared some exciting details about his movies, personal life and his new musical venture. When asked about his views on opinions that Vendhu Thanindhanthu Kaadu was called his raw film that was not expected from the director, he said everything is because of the expectations. He then explained that he would not watch a film with expectations and said he won't watch Leo based on his expectations but would see what Lokesh has presented. He said "expectations are the problem."
Gautham Vasudev Menon then said he also heard people saying that they expected an urban film from him and did not know expect him to handle this subject. The director then said “That's my job right and I understood what should be made." Vendhu Thanindhanthu Kaadu filmmaker said he also heard that Parotta shop shown is not realistic and explained that he made the set for the Parotta shop after seeing a similar shop for real. The director added at first Jayamohan said a debut actor should be a part of the film but "I brought Simbu in and brought A.R. Rahman in. the first version did not have any songs and worked to add songs and it worked collectively." The director then broke his silence about the collections of Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu. “It worked but it was not a blockbuster hit, I think the producer did not lose any money and made around 20-25 crores, which is good as far as I am concerned.” said the director.
