Silambarasan TR's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu has emerged as a hit film at the box office and it has also paved the way for the sequel to materialize. The works for the sequel of Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu have already begun and the scripting works are currently underway. The creator of Vendhu Thanindhadhu Kaadu, director Gautham Vasudev Menon, for the first time, spoke about the sequel of VTK, in his recent exclusive interview with Galatta Tamil and during the interaction, he revealed how he has picturized the film. The ace filmmaker revealed that he is looking at VTK 2 as a film that will be on the lines of Nayagan and Godfather, both being considered cult classic gangster dramas.
Talking about the sequel, Gautham Menon said, "In the second part, Sreedharan (Neeraj Madhav) is a very important character and it is almost like a dual hero film. VTK 2 will have the flavour of Nayagan and Godfather and we hope to treat the film very different". Gautham Menon also added that Rawther character will have a significant part to play in the second part since his character looked unfinished in VTK. Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu 2 will also be written by Jeyamohan with additional contribution from Gautham Vasudev Menon.
The filming is expected to begin early next year once the writing process is completed and further details are awaited. The film will resume from where the first part ended. Produced by Dr Ishari K Ganesh under the banner of Vels Film International, the film traces the life journey of Muthu from being a naive innocent villager to becoming a dreaded gangster in the Mumbai underworld. The film has music composed by A.R.Rahman whose songs are ruling the playlists of music lovers. Siddhi Idnani plays the female lead in the Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, while Neeraj Madhav, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Siddique, Appukutty, Jaffar, and others play crucial roles.
