Scottish actor Ewan McGregor and American actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead got married in a private ceremony in the presence of family members and close friends, PEOPLE has reported. The wedding is said to have taken place over the weekend after the couple was first romantically linked over four years back. McGregor, 51, and Winstead, 37, share a son Laurie, who was born in June 2021. A source told PEOPLE, "It was a small wedding for family and close friends. They had an outdoor ceremony. It was lovely and joyful. The menu was farm-to-table. They are an adorable couple. They are pretty low-key and like their canyon life. They often hike and go to the beach."
McGregor and Winstead first met in 2016 during the filming of their television series Fargo. In May 2017, Winstead and her husband Riley Stearns parted ways after seven years of marriage, with McGregor filing for divorce from his wife Eve Mavrakis a few months later in January 2018, thus ending their 22-year-marriage. Speaking to Glamour U.K., Winstead said, "I got divorced a couple of years ago, which was a scary, crazy thing for me because I had been with the same person since I was 18 years old, and that was what I knew." The Birds of Prey actress continued, "I was really starting new as an adult for the first time in my life. For me that was a big turning point, being okay with changing, accepting that change is a good thing and that it's okay not to know where that change is going to take you."
McGregor, who is already a father to daughters Clara, 26, Jamyan, 20, Esther, 20, and Anouk, 11, with Mavrakis, welcomed his first son Laurie with Winstead last June. The Star Wars actor during his acceptance speech at the Emmy Awards last September said, "Mary, I love you so much. I'm gonna take this home and show it to our new little boy, Laurie. And to my beautiful girls, who I know are watching, Clara, Esther, Jamyan and Anouk, hello to you too. Thank you very much everybody!" McGregor and Winstead will be appearing in each of their own upcoming Disney+ series set in the Star Wars universe. While McGregor will headline the titular Jedi in Obi-Wan Kenobi announced to premiere on May 27, Winstead will be seen alongside Rosario Dawson in Ahsoka.
