Veteran Bollywood actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar is on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery for urinary bladder cancer, he revealed to leading daily Hindustan Times. The 63-year-old said, "Yes I did get operated, and I am on the way to recovery." According to reports, Mahesh Manjrekar was admitted to the H N Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai and underwent an operation earlier this month. His daughter, actress Saiee Manjrekar, had also spoken about her father's health saying, "He is fine now. He's doing much better. Also, the thing is that I can't say anything right now."
Saiee Manjrekar stated that her father himself will speak about his recovery and narrate the experience of undergoing the surgery and treatment for cancer. Expressing her wish to respect his feelings, the 23-year-old said, "I don't think dad is very comfortable with anything coming out now. So I am just waiting for him to give his hand of experience and his takeaway from this." Saiee, who made her acting debut in Salman Khan's Dabangg 3 in 2019, further added, "To keep the short answer, he has been very strong and I am very proud of him."
On the work front, Mahesh Manjrekar carved a niche for himself as an actor in blockbusters like Kaante, Dabangg, Shootout at Wadala, Total Dhamaal, Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai Dobara, OMG: Oh My God!, Saaho and The White Tiger to name a notable few. As a director, he is known for making films like Vaastav: The Reality, Astitva, Ami Shubhash Bolchi, Viruddh... Family Comes First and Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!. Of late, there have also been reports that he could be the host of the upcoming season of Bigg Boss Marathi.
