Viduthalai, the latest release of the national award winning director Vetri Maaran, was released in theatres today. The film's the latest release of the director after three years of the release of his previous film Asuran. The film is set to be released in two parts and only the first part has been released now, with the second part already shot and expected to be released later this year. Popular supporting actor and comedian Soori who has acted in over 60 movies is set to play the lead for the first time in Viduthalai. It also has Vijay Sethupathi in an important role. The film is loosely based on Writer Jeyamohan’s novel Thunaivan and has music composed by Isaignani Ilayaraja.
Alphonse Puthren who has directed films like Neram, Premam and Gold is known to be an avid follower of Tamil cinema. The director who has predominantly worked in Malayalam language films is known for his comments and statement about Tamil cinema stars and films. Now, the director made a tweet about Viduthalai that has become viral. The director Alphonse Puthren has stated “this is not transformation. This is the evolution of Soori. Thank you Vetri Maaran sir for believing in him ad making the way or paving the way for him to alter himself. Sethu na… neenga illaama Tamil cinema oradi munnaadi pogaatha maathiriungala uruvaakkunnathukku oru salute.” which translates to Vijay Sethupathi brother, salute to you as you have made yourself in a way that without you Tamil cinema won’t move a step forward.
Alphonse Puthren has also then said “Love and respect from Pollaadhavan release date till now Vetri sir." Saying he loves he had great love and respect for director Vetri Maaran from his first film Pollaadhavan. "Maestrova paththi pesa our story paththaathu. Aayiram story paththaathu. Always a fan”. It translates to one story is not enough to talk about Maestro Ilayaraja and even thousand stories won’t be enough.
