Gone are the days when actors used to have several releases in a single year. We have seen actors like Vijayakanth, Mic Mohan, Ramarajan, and many others having back to back releases regularly in the past. However, these days we get to see a maximum of one or two releases only for a prominent lead actor. That being said, we have noticed an interesting pattern this year and we thought of sharing the details about it with our readers. Some of the prominent actors in Tamil cinema have had or are going to have 3 releases in 3 months, one in every month, and this has been a noteworthy pattern.
Dhanush will have three releases in three months and it started with The Gray Man which released in July, followed by the blockbuster hit Thiruchitrambalam in August, and the upcoming Selvaraghavan directorial Naane Varuven in September. Similarly, there are a few more actors who had such releases and here is the list.
Karthi - Viruman (August), Ponniyin Selvan (September), Sardar (October)
Arun Vijay - Yaanai (July), Tamilrockerz web series (August), Sinam (September)
Dhanush - The Gray Man (July), Thiruchitrambalam (August), Naane Varuven (September)
While these three actors had 3 releases in 3 months, Vijay Sethupathi and Arulnithi had three releases in just two months, making it even more interesting.
Arulnithi - D Block (July), Dejavu (July), Diary (August)
Vijay Sethupathi - Vikram (June), Maamanithan (June), 19(1)(a) (July)
This is something that you don't witness often in Tamil cinema and let us hope to see more such instances to happen in the coming months. All these films might have been shot in different timelines, but the release window has been close to one another. This is an interesting common factor that connects Dhanush, Karthi, Arun Vijay, Vijay Sethupathi, and Arulnithi. Actors like Prabhu Deva, Ashok Selvan, GV Prakash Kumar, have had two movie releases in quick succession.
