National Award-winning actor Dhanush's last release was Pattas, which hit theatres earlier this year as a grand Pongal treat. His highly-anticipated gangster action film, Jagame Thandhiram, under Karthik Subbaraj's direction is awaiting its theatrical release, while he is also a part of a number of upcoming ventures among which include Karnan being directed by Pariyerum Perumal fame Mari Selvaraj, the tentatively titled D43 under Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru director Karthick Naren, D44 under the Sun Pictures banner and featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander, an untitled venture with Ratsasan director Ramkumar being produced by Satya Jyothi Films, a venture with his brother Selvaraghavan currently in pre-production stages, director Vetri Maaran's project being produced by Elred Kumar's RS Infotainment and the Bollywood multi-starrer Atrangi Re.

Among these films, Atrangi Re under Aanand L Rai's direction is carrying tremendous hype as it will feature Dhanush sharing screen space alongside Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan, with music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman. Having said that, Dhanush has now given an update on his social media pages saying Atrangi Re has entered its final leg of filming in Delhi, while also sharing a picture of himself from the film's sets. It is to be noted that the Asuran actor's look in the film went viral on social media when the film was being shot in Karaikudi near Madurai a while back. Check out Dhanush's statement below:

Atrangi Re incidentally also marks Dhanush's reunion with Aanand L Rai after their blockbuster 2013 romantic drama film Raanjhanaa. The upcoming film has a screenplay by Himanshu Sharma and is being produced jointly by T-Series, Colour Yellow Productions and Cape of Good Films banners. With the film's final schedule now underway, it remains to be seen whether the makers get the film out in theatres as a 2021 Valentine's Day release as announced earlier.

Considering a lot of time has been compromised due to the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown, the Atrangi Re team will have to get done with filming soon and post-production works if they indeed plan on releasing early next year. A short announcement teaser for the film was released when it rolled into production, with fans expecting the team to treat them more in the days ahead.
