One of the biggest superstars in the world, Dwayne Johnson, also known by his wrestling ring name, The Rock, has gone on to star in several notable blockbusters which include Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, San Andreas, Furious 7, Central Intelligence, Moana, The Fate of the Furious, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Rampage, Skyscraper, and most recently, Hobbs & Shaw. He will next be seen this year in Jumanji: The Next Level releasing worldwide on December 13 followed by Disney’s adventure film, Jungle Cruise, coming out in theatres on July 24, 2020. That said, Dwayne Johnson took to his social networking pages to drop a bombshell film announcement saying he will be starring as the DC Comics anti-hero, Teth-Adam aka. Black Adam in the upcoming venture titled for now as Black Adam, which will be hitting screens across the globe on December 22, 2021. To be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Warner Bros. Entertainment’s Black Adam has Beau Flynn, Dwayne Johnson, Hiram Garcia, Dany Garcia, and Scott Sheldon attached as producers with filming expected to begin from July 2020. It is believed Black Adam will be a standalone film and will eventually tie into the DC Extended Universe to battle the DC superhero, Shazam, who is considered in the lore as his arch enemy. Coming out as a Christmas holidays release, Black Adam, however, will be facing some mighty tough competition in the form of James Cameron’s Avatar 2, releasing on December 17, 2021.
Black Adam will also be going up against the animated film, Hotel Transylvania 4 followed by the Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law starrer, Sherlock Holmes 3, scheduled for release on December 21, 2021, an untitled Disney live-action film on December 22, 2021 and La La Land director Damien Chazelle’s Babylon on December 25, 2021.
