The Central Government recently relaxed the lockdown regulations to allow stranded migrant workers, students and tourists to return to their native places, from any other part of the country they were stuck in, due to the sudden lockdown! The Central Govt. had announced that the Ministry of Railways would coordinate with the respective state governments for the transportation of stranded migrant workers and students. Special trains have already begun operating for this purpose and quite a number of people have been returning to their hometowns. However, the train fares for these migrant workers to return home has become a topic of contention with the opposition party slamming the government's decision to charge an additional fee of Rs. 50, along with the train fares. The Congress Party even offered to take up the charges by themselves, for these migrant workers and students!
Now, the Bihar Government has come up with a great initiative! The state's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced that the government would be bearing the train fares of all the students returning home, through these special trains! As for the migrant workers, the Government would be reimbursing the fare to them, on their arrival! These travellers are being taken from the railway stations to their respective district block headquarters, where they would be staying in quarantine for a period of 21 days, before being allowed to join their family members! The Bihar CM has announced that the ticket reimbursement as well as an additional aid amount of Rs. 500 would be given to the migrant workers, on the completion of the 21-day quarantine period! He has issued a statement through a video and stated that this is necessary to dispel the wrong rumours being given out by the opposition. Stay tuned for updates...
