The highly-anticipated trailer for Academy Award-winning filmmaker James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of Water was released on Thursday, November 2, and has since taken the world by storm. The sequel to the 2009 global blockbuster Avatar, the upcoming epic science fiction will take audiences back to the world of Pandora when the film opens in cinemas worldwide on December 16. In celebration of the Avatar: The Way of Water trailer and poster launch, Cameron appeared in a special video to announce that a stunning light show featuring major highlights from the film will be shown over Niagara Falls, which borders New York in the United States, and Ontario in Canada, and is the place where the visionary filmmaker grew up.
Cameron states, "To celebrate the release of the new trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water, we're lighting up the waters of Niagara Falls and sharing some of the footage from the film. As some of you know, I grew up in Niagara Falls. So, I'm pretty excited that this footage is being shown for the first time ever right in my hometown. And, not only that but coming to life over the backdrop of one of the world's great natural wonders. Make sure to go see Avatar: The Way of Water, in theatres, on December 16th." With this latest incredible announcement, fans can be certain that there's more to come in the days ahead as Avatar 2 nears its release.
Set almost a decade after the events of Avatar in 2009, Avatar: The Way of Water will see Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana reprising their roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri, who will be joined by Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, CCH Pounder, and Matt Gerald from the original film, while Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet, Vin Diesel, Michelle Yeoh, Oona Chaplin, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Jemaine Clement, and CJ Jones are on board as the new cast members.
