Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman's eldest daughter Khatija Rahman got engaged to audio engineer Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed in a private ceremony in the presence of family members and close friends on December 29. Introducing her fiance to the world, Khatija made the announcement on social media along with a photo of herself and Riyasdeen and wrote, "With the blessings of the Almighty I’m happy to announce to you all my engagement with Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed @riyasdeenriyan, an aspiring entrepreneur and a wizkid audio engineer. The engagement happened on 29th December, my birthday in the presence of close family and loved ones. #KhatijaRahmanEngagementWithRiyasdeen #ThankYou". Khatija's Instagram post was also shared by A. R. Rahman on his Insta Stories:
According to reports, Khatija Rahman and Riyasdeen’s engagement ceremony was restricted to a few persons in view of the rise in Covid-19 cases. As of now, no wedding date has been announced and we can expect a statement in the days ahead. Khatija made her singing debut with the song "Puthiya Manidha" alongside the legendary SP Balasubramanyam in 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's 2010 blockbuster Enthiran and also more recently sang the "Rock a Bye Baby" song in Kriti Sanon's Mimi. A. R. Rahman and his wife Saira Banu are parents to three children - daughters Khatija and Raheema, and son AR Ameen.
As for A. R. Rahman, the Oscar winner has a number of big projects lined up ahead in Tamil among which include Silambarasan TR's Pathu Thala and Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, 'Chiyaan' Vikram's Cobra, Sivakarthikeyan's sci-fi film Ayalaan, Parthiban's Iravin Nizhal, including ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam's epic historical magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan. The hit music director is also attached to several projects in other languages starting with Hindi ventures namely Tiger Shroff's Heropanti 2, Airlift director Raja Krishna Menon's Pippa, Srijit Mukherji's Hai Yeh Woh Aatish Ghalib, followed by Fahadh Faasil's Malayankunju and Prithviraj's Aadujeevitham in Malayalam.
