Telugu superstar Allu Arjun has created history by becoming the first Indian celebrity to cross the coveted one million followers mark on Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg's newly-launched social media platform Threads. The 41-year-old actor has reached the numbers a week after he posted a black-and-white monochrome photo of himself on the social networking application, with fans soon flocking to express their love and support. It is to be noted that he also became the first South Indian actor to cross 20 million followers on Instagram earlier this year. Having maintained a special relationship with his fans from around the world since the beginning of his career, this latest show of support on Threads has once again established his dominance on social media.
Allu Arjun's popularity soared to new heights after the release of the Telugu pan-Indian film, Pushpa: The Rise - Part 1 (2019), which went on to become a massive box office success in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam languages too. Directed by Sukumar, the action drama film became the highest-grossing Indian film of 2021, and continues to rank among the highest-grossing Telugu ventures of all time. Currently working on the sequel, Pushpa 2: The Rule, scheduled to release in 2024, will see Allu Arjun reprising his role alongside national sensation Rashmika Mandanna and Malayalam superstar Fahadh Faasil.
The buzz surrounding Pushpa 2: The Rule has been massive ever since the first installment ended on a cliffhanger teasing a big confrontation between Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil, with the upcoming film set to revolve around the conflict between the two. Next, Allu Arjun will join hands with blockbuster Telugu director Trivikram Srinivas for the fourth time in the tentatively titled AA 22 after Julayi (2012), S/O Satyamurthy (2015), and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (2020), which will be jointly produced under S. Radha Krishna's Harika & Hassine Creations and Allu Aravind's Geetha Arts banners.
