Ajith Kumar's Thunivu will release on January 12, 2023, as a grand Pongal treat, the upcoming film's UK distributor Boleyn Cinema has confirmed in their latest announcement. Sharing the news that they will be presenting the mass action thriller in the UK and Europe, the distributor on Thursday, December 8, revealed the release date for the H. Vinoth directorial, which has been produced by Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLP banner in association with Zee Studios. It is to be noted that the overseas theatrical rights of Ajith's Thunivu were bagged by blockbuster production-distribution house Lyca Productions and all pre-release works are progressing at a steady pace, with promotions set to take flight next. Below is the first official confirmation of the Thunivu release date:
Thunivu is gearing up to be one of the biggest Tamil film releases of 2023 and Ajith's career, and expectations for the film to surpass his past successes are huge in terms of the opening and box office performance. Not much is known about the film apart from it being set in the action thriller genre, with the superstar's character revealed to include negative shades. Featuring music composed by Ghibran, promotions for Thunivu are going to speed up from Friday, December 9, when the first single track titled 'Chilla Chilla' will be released and fans are mighty excited to catch the first visual glimpse of Ajith on the dance floor. The song is billed to be a peppy number along the lines of the chart-topping 'Aaluma Doluma' in Vedalam and has been sung by Anirudh Ravichander to the lyrics penned by Vaisagh of the indie hit 'Kaaka Kadhai' fame.
Ajith will be seen sharing screen space with National Award-winning Malayalam actress Manju Warrier for the first time in Thunivu, with the film's supporting cast featuring the likes of Samuthirakani, Bigg Boss Tamil stars Ciby Bhuvana Chandran, Amir, and Pavni Reddy among many others. The film also marks the third consecutive occasion Ajith has collaborated with H. Vinoth and Boney Kapoor after their Nerkonda Paarvai (2019) and Valimai (2022), and there is a huge buzz this latest venture could top their previous works on all fronts.
