According to reports, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa's assistant Poongundran Sankaralingam had recently expressed his views on social media about Ajith's political entry. In his post, he had stated that Ajith's Valimai release coincided with the late stateswoman's birth anniversary (February 24), while also adding that the 'Mother Song' in the film had come out on her death anniversary. Poongundran had apparently stated that he told his friend that the actor had great respect for Jayalalithaa and these were probably his first steps for his political plans. He added that a conclusive answer would be known upon the release of Valimai. Having said that, Ajith's clarification has now put all such speculations to rest and will now come as a full stop to the rumors that were being spread around on social media regarding his political plans.
On the work front, Ajith will kick-start the shooting for his AK 61 in the days ahead, which marks his third consecutive reunion with director H. Vinoth and producer Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLP banner after their Nerkonda Paarvai (2019) and Valimai. As of now, there's no word on when exactly AK 61 will roll into production, with the excitement for the upcoming film shooting up after Boney Kapoor unveiled an image of Ajith in a DICOM format leading many to speculate the actor will be portraying a character with a negative shade.
