The Tamil Nadu Police had arrested actor Shaam for alleged involvement in a gambling racket. Following investigations into a busted gambling racket, the Police arrested Shaam and took him to the Nugambakkam Police Station late night yesterday on the 27th of July for alleged involvement in illegal gambling racket. Not just Shaam, it is reported that by the Police Department that 13 illegal gamblers were taken into custody from an apartment located in Nugambakkam Chennai. It is reported that gambling has apparently been taking place regularly at this apartment and several film stars have been allegedly taking part in the gambling. Based on the complaint filed, a special squad of team was arranged by the police to nab the gamblers. That’s how the raid was conducted yesterday in which actor Shaam and 12 others were found gambling. Just like Shaam, even the rest of the suspects are apparently big shots from different fields. They were all taken to the Nugambakkam Police Station for questioning. After which, a case has been registered against all 13 of them and was later released after getting bail. This news has taken the Tamil film industry by a shock. There is a rumour doing rounds that the apartment in which the gambling took place allegedly belongs to actor Shaam, but no authentic statement has been made to clarify this news. More details regarding this case will follow soon.
Shaam who is basically from Madurai grew up in Bengaluru, where he pursued his studies. After completing his B Com, he did modelling through which he hoped to become an actor. The actor started his career as a model before he met cinematographer Jeeva. The actor eventually made his film acting debut in Jeeva’s debut directorial 12B which also had Simran and Jyothika playing the female leads. Shaam had a very good start with 12B, Yai Nee Romba Azhaga Irukke, Lesa Lesa and Iyarkai, all doing decently well at the box office but earned him a place in the Tamil film industry. Shaam was even approached by Mani Ratnam to play one of the leads in Aaytha Ezhuthu, but was unable to sign the film because of date issues with Iyarkai. Ullam Ketkumae, directed by Jeeva, finally became his first successful film. After that, another wave of flop films, pushed him to become supporting actor for big budget action films like Thillalangadi, The Great Father and Race Gurram. He has played a role in Venkat Prabhu’s upcoming film Party as well.
