Abbas is a popular actor who has acted in over 50 films and was a heart-throb of Tamil cinema audience. He has been a part of many hit projects including Kadhal Desam, which marks his debut, then Padayappa, Hey Ram, Kandukondain Kandukondain, Minnale, Aanandham, Pammal K Sambandam, etc. The actor has been off the radar for over a decade and recently, he sat down for an exclusive interview with National Award-winning film critic Baradwaj Rangan, the Editor in Chief of Galatta Plus. The critic began the interview by saying the last person he expected who would call was Abbas and asked how is this happening. The actor said, “I have only gotten a few interviews in my life, I am a very close-knit and personal person because I am very unpredictable in many ways.”
Abbas then explained that he had gotten some interviews when he was abroad but it's been distorted, so he wanted people to know what happened to him. “Many have asked what happened sir are you making a comeback, you should make a comeback sir, do you have health issues, sir, are you in a mental hospital or have you passed away.” He then explained that he wanted his fans to know what happened and wanted to speak about it in an interview. The actor then explained that “I have been off the circuit a lot because I was spending time with my kids.” He then when he was an actor due to the schedule he could not spend time with his kids and because he wanted to spend time with them he moved with them to a foreign country for more family bonding to New Zealand.
When he asked about becoming famous overnight after the hit of his debut film Kadhal Desam, Abbas said he was staying in a hotel and the day after he saw the premiere and got back. He said the next day, he was swarmed by fans in front of the hotel and he did not know how to react because one day he was just a normal person and the next he was a big star.
