Leading Tamil actor Kamal Haasan completed 64 years in cinema on Saturday, August 12, and has now penned a heartfelt statement on social media for the congratulatory messages and wishes pouring in from all quarters. Addressed as 'Ulaganayagan' by his ardent fans everywhere, the iconic star shared that the wishes that have come his way are a blessing while stating that the days ahead are for the people. Kamal Haasan posted on X, "It is a great blessing to wish someone to live for 64 years. It is not a blessing for my body but is a blessing for my artistic life, which is a boon for many more talented people than me. I humbly thank all those who congratulated me. The remaining days are for my people. (sic)"
Kamal Haasan has acted in 232 films and debuted as a child artiste in Kalathur Kannamma (1960) earning him the President's Gold Medal award, and continues to remain a great source of inspiration for many aspiring actors to date. Last seen in Vikram (2022), which went on to become a raging box office success, the film was also his first-time collaboration with blockbuster director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who has often professed his deep admiration for the superstar. The hit director once again conveyed his wishes to Kamal Haasan by reposting the actor's post and said how he and many others in cinema are thankful for what he has done for the industry throughout the course of his glorious 64-year career. Currently busy with the work on his next big film, Indian 2, Kamal Haasan has reunited with director Shankar once again after their Indian (1996), which has since become a cult classic, with all eyes now on the sequel that is expected to be released in early 2024. The actor also announced the tentatively titled KH 233 with director H. Vinoth of Nerkonda Paarvai (2019), Valimai (2022), and Thunivu (2023) fame, sometime back and there's a huge buzz surrounding the project, which is expected to begin rolling soon in the months ahead. Kamal Haasan also announced KH 234, his big reunion with iconic filmmaker Mani Ratnam once again after Nayakan (1987), and there's massive excitement for the film, which will also include music by A. R. Rahman.
