With St. Britto’s Academy serving excellence in education for 25 years, Dr. Vimala Rani recently sat down with Galatta Media to talk about her family, her journey in the education industry, and her various endeavors, including the success and struggles in her life.
Speaking about how she was convinced that starting a school and venturing into the education industry would be the best decision, Dr. Vimala Rani said, "I was born in Madurai and my father was a maths teacher at the famous St. Mary's school. And, my husband's (Xavier Britto) mother was a geography teacher at Devakottai. My husband started his career as a professor at Loyola College. Nearly three decades back, he became the first-generation family member to venture into business and it was around the same time I started a small travel business. I would travel along with my husband and get money from him. After I got married, my father passed away, whom I loved dearly. Similarly, my husband was very close to his mother." She continued, "When we began thinking about what to do next in life, we felt that starting a school would be a good idea. Director S. A. Chandrasekhar's mother was my grandmother as well and she was a headmistress in a school at Muthupet. The knowledge that we have and share is a form of good teaching. So, that is when I thought that starting a school is a good platform."
