Leading Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil will be seen next in the highly-anticipated film, Aavesham, scheduled for a grand theatrical release on April 11. With plenty of excitement surrounding the upcoming action drama film, the National Award winner best known to Tamil cinema audiences for his roles in Super Deluxe (2019), Vikram (2022), and Maamannan (2023), shared the first details about his role in 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan being directed by T. J. Gnanavel of Jai Bhim (2021) fame. Addressing the media at the Aavesham press meet on Tuesday, April 9, Fahadh also shared his views on Malayalam actors appearing in villain roles predominantly in Tamil films in recent years.
Speaking about his acting experiences in Tamil films over the years and whether there's any planning involved in the choice of his roles, Fahadh said, "Acting as Vadivelu sir's villain in Maamannan was extremely exciting. Doing Pushpa 2 with Bunny (Allu Arjun) is also exciting. Everything else is secondary. We're in it because cinema excites us. There's no other planning to this. I'm now doing a comedy film with Vadivelu sir. Likewise, my role in Rajini sir's film is humorous. All this happens and there's no particular plan."
Fahadh also shared his views on Malayalam actors being approached only for villain roles of late in Tamil films after his take as an antagonist in Maamannan and Vinayakan in Jailer (2023). He said, "There might have been such discussions, but I have been approached for many Tamil films after that. Even now, there are many Tamil film offers that are coming. It can be viewed as a talent collaboration and it's not like we're going there to change Tamil cinema. It's like our friends are calling us. I now have a relation with Kamal sir and Rajini sir, and it's because of doing these films. I look at all of this in a positive manner."
Vettaiyan is scheduled for a grand worldwide theatrical release this October and has Rajinikanth and Fahadh Faasil sharing screen space alongside a highly-talented star cast featuring the likes of iconic Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, Malayalam actress Manju Warrier, Baahubali fame Rana Daggubati, Irudhi Suttru star Ritika Singh, Sarpatta Parambarai heroine Dushara Vijayan, among others, with the music being composed by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander.
